Leverkusen’s Alonso sets league record with 28 unbeaten away games

Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso has reached another milestone as Saturday’s 2-0 at Holstein Kiel made him the coach with the longest unbeaten Bundesliga run away from home which now covers 28 matches. Alonso bettered the mark of Udo Lattek who went unbeaten on the road in 27 games while in charge of Bayern Munich and Schalke, the Bundesliga website said. Leverkusen’s last Bundesliga defeat on the road came in May 2023 in the season finale, 3-0 at Bochum. They have only lost one league overall
